The star has donated the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound honor prize money to the MVT, which works to protect the Britain's independent music venues.

He was given the cheque on mid-October as his latest record People Watching was named the top album of the previous year.

He has opted to hand the money over to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the crucial part grassroots venues played in his initial steps.

"I personally wouldn't be doing my current career if it wasn't for all the shows I played around the North East, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated the artist. "These venues are legendary, but they are struggling."

Since the start of 2023, over 150 of these venues have shut down – roughly 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, major artists including Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to help venues survive, by applying a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which goes to help local stages.

Fender also joined in, collecting over £100k on his recent tour to support thirty-eight small stages across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The money assisted spaces that were dealing with potential shutdown due to issues stemming from water damage, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Some locations were granted funding support in upgrading amenities and technical equipment that helped artists and audiences.

"The idea that money from shows in large arenas helps the smaller venues, where it all starts for performers like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has said.

Fender is among several artists to donate his honor funds to good deeds.

When they won the prize in the mid-90s for their album the album, vocalist Jarvis Cocker announced that the act would give their winnings to the non-profit the charity.

In 2002, musician the artist divided her prize among multiple good causes, including the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.

"I also contributed a £1,000 to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics program, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they lacked new equipment," she shared with the media.

Two years ago, the band gave their winnings to the local youth club that developed their group, in addition to other local music groups.

Additionally the 1994 recipients the group gave their award to a MS organization after a close contact was identified with the disease.

"The victory was quite enough," stated singer Small. "The money was the bonus but we didn't need the bonus, because we had the honor. So our victory affected the lives of others."

Last week, the MVT announced it had rescued two local spots in the South East, by transferring them to local control.

One venue in that area and The Croft in that location were purchased under the public acquisition initiative, which is backed by the arts council and enthusiasts who buy "ownership units" in the buildings.
